Sadly, many of my fellow Christians are advocates of “objective truth”, until truth conflicts with their political allegiances. @ThabitiAnyabwil @AndCampaign @joeldkershaw @scott_m_coley @KyleJamesHoward @socofthesacred @TheWitnessBCC @pastordmack @toddjrobertson @pastoremase
Honest confession: there was a time where I prided myself in not being like other women esp. when it came to thinking theologically. I would scorn the fluff that came out of women’s ministries or at least what I presumed to be overly emotional drivel. /1
This entire thread is gold.
In our Black-white racially divided landscape, Asians are erased, expected to be silent and expelled from the imagination. We want to see the church as a whole declare that Asian Lives Matter. —@tweetraychang & @drmichellereyes
If you're looking for a basis for talking about racial wealth gaps, see this research. If you are looking for a discussion on what caused those wealth gaps: consider systemic slavery, Jim Crow laws, lynchings, and bank policies between 1865-1965 among others causes...1/3
Is cultural diversity *needed* to correctly interpret the Bible? Absolutely.
The task of interpretation starts with several basic principles. 1) the text is controlled by what the original authors intended. We need the what, when, where, why, etc. (1/15)
A good thread to start the day.
Guys—if you’ve noticed I’ve been unusually quiet:
A group of anti-mask far-right extremists are attempting a coup to overturn the law-abiding leadership of my church. All hell broke loose. Trying to do damage control! Quite a shock.
PS. This BS is happening all over America.
A must-pray and must-read thread
Christians: If your first thought on hearing about church abuse is, “Accusations will only hurt the church!”—trust me, the church has already been hurt. The people. We cannot elevate the concept of church over the people in it. God is the defender of the abused, not brand names.
This detail is so chilling: "Zacharias warned the woman—a fellow believer—if she ever spoke out against him, she would be responsible for millions of souls lost when his reputation was damaged."
This is such a sick twisting of the gospel. Spiritual abuse.
I just finished an audiobook of “A Church Called Tov” by @scotmcknight and @laurambarringer. Almost all I could think about was my seminary experience @BCS_MN. Speaking as an alumni, I would not recommend Bethlehem College & Seminary to *anyone.* Buckle up. I’ll tell you why.
