RSVP on Facebook and join us tonight for a conversation about how we can #MakeCareCount.
COVID-19 has reinforced that care work is critical infrastructure in our country. I hope you’ll join @RepBowman, @RepNikema, @aijenpoo and me – along with the #MakeCareCount campaign – for an important discussion at 7:30 PM ET about the #CareForAllAgenda.
Our tax system is so tilted that families in the top 0.1% pay about 3.2% of their wealth in taxes, while the 99% pay about 7.2%. We need a #WealthTax so the richest Americans pay taxes on all their wealth - like their stock portfolios, diamonds, yachts, and art collections.
A #WealthTax is critical for raising revenue, and that revenue is critical for raising opportunity. We build a future for all of our kids by investing in opportunity. This is one way we can make this government work for everyone – not just the rich and powerful.
The powerful and privileged have spent decades bending Congress to their will. We need to level the playing field, and that means the richest of the rich must pay their fair share in taxes, just like working families already do. Glad to be in this fight with @SenWarren.
Billionaire wealth is 40% higher now than when the COVID crisis began – but our tax system is still tilted toward the ultra-rich. Today @RepJayapal, @CongBoyle and I are introducing our #WealthTax bill to make the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share.
The obscene wealth inequality in America is no accident. It is the direct result of policies that push wealth up, and the people at the top who hoard it. We need @SenWarren's wealth tax so we can make the ultra-millionaires and billionaires pay and build back better for all.
A #WealthTax provides money for President Biden’s #BuildBackBetter agenda. Policies like expanding the caregiving economy – everything from child care to nursing homes – rebuilding infrastructure, high quality k-12 education, and tuition-free public college and technical schools.
Inbox: Elizabeth Warren, newly on the Finance Committee, is unveiling her 2-cent wealth tax bill today.
Replying to @WorkingFamilies: 664 billionaires in this country have seen their wealth increase by a collective $1.3 TRILLION since last March.
A fair tax system means we can invest in child care, infrastructure, and high quality public schools to give every family in America the opportunity to succeed. That's why I'm proud to cosponsor @SenWarren, @RepJayapal, and @CongBoyle’s bill for a #WealthTax.
Working families pay 7.2% of their wealth in taxes. But the richest Americans pay only 3.2%.
This is backwards, especially when you remember that the latter increased their wealth during this pandemic by over $1 trillion.
America needs a #WealthTax.
A #WealthTax will help create a more fair and just economy, while building up our community's health care, schools, and green union jobs.
Thank you Sen Warren, Rep Jayapal, and Rep. Boyle for introducing the Ultra-Millionaire Tax Act!
