To folks who say their vote doesn’t matter, just look at what’s happening in Georgia right now.
Your vote is powerful, and if it wasn’t, politicians wouldn’t be trying to make it harder for you to vote. We must stand together to protect voting rights.
For years I’ve worked alongside heroes like John Lewis to organize communities for Souls to the Polls events.
Efforts to restrict weekend voting, like we’re seeing in Georgia, specifically targets communities of color and they should be rejected.

THREAD: Today, Georgia's GOP-led Senate will vote on #SB241, which would END no-excuse vote by mail. In 2020 alone, over 1.3 MILLION Georgians chose to vote by mail - now, in response to historic turnout, Republicans are trying to restrict OUR voting access. #gapol
Today is a critical moment for the fight against voter suppression. Georgians, call your legislators and urge them to protect voting rights, including vote by mail.
I sat down with @NPR to talk about why we need to pass the For The People Act to protect voting rights in Georgia and across the country.
Your vote is your voice, and we can’t let politicians silence us.
On this weekend of “Bloody Sunday,” I am remembering my hero and parishioner, the late Congressman John Lewis.
During this Women’s History Month, I am also thinking about the women of the movement, including my other parishioner, the incomparable Xernona Clayton.
On March 7, 1965 John Lewis and 600 other brave Americans risked their life and shed their blood fighting for the right to vote.
56 years later, and the struggle continues. Let's honor their legacy by passing the #ForThePeopleAct & the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
Relief is finally on the way Georgia.
This historic COVID-19 relief bill will bring billions of dollars in aid to Georgia, help our economy recover and give families the support they need to get through this pandemic.
I’m proud to vote yes.
Wonderful to see the House pass the George Floyd Justice In Policing Act, which brings long overdue reforms to police departments across the country.
Criminal justice reform is a bipartisan issue, and I hope we’ll see bipartisan support in the Senate.
We shouldn’t wait another minute to pass this bill and deliver the help Georgians and the American people need.
“Voting rights is preservative of all other rights, and we have to do everything we can to preserve the voices of the people in our democracy.”
I won’t stop fighting to raise the minimum wage to $15/hour until we get the job done.
Too many Georgia families don’t have the educational and economic opportunities to succeed and we need to do more to level the playing field.
No one bill can erase decades of systemic racism against Black farmers, but this bill will deliver billions in critical aid and begin to repair trust.
After failing to act for months to help Americans, Senate Republicans are now trying to delay & block the American Rescue Plan with cynical political games.
That's why we can’t afford to lose a single seat in 2022. Chip in to protect the Senate majority:
Thanks to Georgia voters, we're going to deliver the relief American families need.
Never forget that your vote is powerful.
The American Rescue Plan will lower unemployment, provide benefits to 10 million Georgians and invest over $4 billion in Georgia schools.
Tomorrow the kid from the Kayton Homes housing projects gets sworn into the United States Senate. Thank you for trusting me Georgia.
