It was neat to participate in today’s #AMS2021 panel on Weather Act implementation and what’s ahead for Congressional action on the weather enterprise for the 117th Congress hosted by the @NWS . Hopefully next year’s conference will be in person!
@benrileysmith The plaque beside the Lincoln statue commemorates the union soldiers who were stationed in the capitol in April 1861 to prevent a southern incursion into capital. The dome was under construction at the time. Regardless, an unfortunate bit of historical symmetry.
Not surprisingly, my most viral tweet to date is a random fact about the U.S. capitol. I'm more of a social media influencee than influencer.
Isn't it surreal how the U.S. House *again* impeached a sitting president - for the second time in 55 weeks - and the collective reaction of most is a shrug? This is a very historic event and most everyone is numb to the profound events we are witnessing. Wow.
Alexandria Vice Mayor @EBP4Delegate Announces Candidacy for House of Delegates District 45 (The incumbent, @DelegateMark, is running for LG but has said he's not resigning from the House of Delegates.)
I fully support Delegate Levine's move up or move out strategy and hope he won't jump back in the race for his old seat when he continually polls < 2% for LG.
A deep dive into 50 years of Robert Caro’s research, and a visit to his austere office, reveal how the author of “The Power Broker” and a multivolume biography of LBJ became the superstar chronicler of 20th-century America.
The biggest takeaway from this story is that Caro has spent most of the last year rewriting one section of this book. My new ETA for Volume V of the LBJ series is 2025.
Like this protestor in the U.S. Senate chamber, our democratic processes feel like they are hanging by a finger at the moment.
