I am so tired of people's excuses that amount to giving up on people living in poverty who can't wait any longer for us to raise the wage.
I’m so tired of politicians talking about shit and not fighting for it anywhere but Twitter. Also it’s 15 dollars an hour which is still not a livable wage.
I swear I can’t watch a show with my partner 😂 he falls asleep and then the next night we have to rewatch everything (rinse and repeat) 😂😂😂
Another feel good story 🖤

NEW: @Kroger is the U.S.’s largest grocery chain. It has made $2.9 BILLION in pandemic profits.
Now it’s shuttering stores in multiple states just to avoid giving employees $4/hour hazard pay.

@Badgirlsbedhead Petition for Charlotte Clymer to change her name. Gives all millennial Charlotte’s a bad name 😭😤
Oh and obviously you.
@BenBonnema Hi Ben, I worked at TJs and was sent home without pay for asking to wear gloves at the register during the first wave They also would not let us wear masks for fear that it would "scare the customers." I filed an OSHA complaint, received back pay, and spoke to the press.
trader joe's just fired me for sending this letter to the ceo, saying i don't share the company values. i guess advocating for a safer workplace isn't a company value?
Kroger would rather create food deserts than pay its workers. This is the for-profit system in all its glory. The free market decides who gets to eat.
Other stores aren't doing this. Trader Joe's reacted to the Seattle mandate by extending hazard pay nationwide.
And Kroger actually announced $2/hour 'hero pay' for workers back in April 2020, before the height of the pandemic.
But they ended the program after one month.
Kroger’s CEO made $21.1 million in 2019.
Kroger workers earned a median wage of just $26,790.
One worker told us that the extra $4/hour is “a buffer between me and homelessness.”
Seattle passed a law this month requiring grocery stores provide workers $4/hr hazard pay. Long Beach passed a similar law last month.
@Kroger responded by deciding to close 2 stores in each city and warning other cities they’d do the same if forced to pay workers more.
